Guiding Principles

In my attempt to remain true and act on what I feel are good moral standards, I have put together a list which I think about to remind and give myself direction.

  • perception- always more than one way to view a situation and the correct one…who knows!
  • Listen - we have two ears and mouth for a reason. A verbal response is not always wanted or required.
  • Humility - learning capability is diminished substantially without this quality.
  • Surround yourself with people who will assist in your growth.
  • Material things…well they are just material things.
  • Simplicity may be hard but it will create the easy.
  • Faith and spiritually are a lot more tangible than we are able to comprehend.
  • Empty, compassion and understanding just need to be. Practice this.
  • I believe staying mentally healthy is more important staying physically healthy, because the later is nearly impossible without the other.
  • Friends…be honest with them! True friends are difficult to find…you will know who they are.
  • Don’t be ignorant, complacent. Be the master of you.
  • Judge. Just don’t do it! I have no authority to judge.
  • Life can be tough. It will challenge me. The challenges will help me grow.
  • Love. Learn what that means.
  • Breathe like you mean it. Don’t breathe lazily.
  • Don’t fall trap to the last 60 years of societal changes or current societal accepted disfunctions. Be aware of what you’re doing and not doing.
  • Exercise. Push your brain and body to reset the mediocrity tendencies.
  • Eat to serve your brain and body. Learn to read your body.
  • Drink water.
  • Be one with nature. Learn to ground yourself.
  • Meditation. Learn to be with yourself, nurture your body with stillness and breathe.

Last but not least and there are likely guiding principles that are not on this list.

  • Grace. Learn to give myself some grace, I’m not perfect and never will be. Learn to relax and stretch some of the above a bit once in awhile.
  • I read that the body needs a reset once in awhile as it tends to take some things for granted; like always eating chicken for example. Switch it up with a different source of protein once in a while.
