Races on My Mind

June 1st was the first day that I’ve gone for a mountain run – just any run for that matter, since my surgery on May 8th. Twenty-four days of healing and the run felt great. I felt no real-time pain or post workout pain. Sometimes the stiffness or pain will set in two days post workout. Tomorrow will tell! Well…Tomorrow has come and gone and no negative body feedback with respect to the mountain run. Such good news for me, however I still need to remind myself to make sure that I’m staying true to reading my body and not letting my ego take control and pushing too hard.

With the Sinister 7 (160km) and Canadian Death Race (118km) race approaching quickly and the fact that I just lost nearly a month worth of training, the training from now to the races needs to be played out very wisely. I have no room for error or setbacks in my training. Everything needs to be on point.

Smart training (still can’t push for at least 2 more weeks) – not too much or too little – hard workouts and fun easy work outs – diversified training/ strength and mobility - stretching and rolling very important – good nutrition and hydration – minimize and control stress – mindful mediation time.

Endurance Racing at its Best

Check out the races on this website. BTW – I will be running leg 3 at the Sinister 7 race and Leg 1 and 3 at the CDR.
