Growing into my Life Changes
I’m fine for the most part, still trying to get my
hip back to 100% and be able to fully function without pain.
My new job as a parts man at Chinook
Equipment NAPA in Pincher Creek is going well. It’s a job that I could
instantly see myself growing into. I have always enjoyed working on vehicles,
being in the garage and have always had the desire to learn and be more
diverse. This NAPA store is affiliated with a few brands of agricultural
equipment sales, therefore all the parts sales and we also build hydraulic
hoses, which is quite involved. Lots of client/ customer communications and
suggestive sales, which I’m also really enjoying. There’s lots going on here
and lots to learn.
When I get
home, I have been bagged, I think more mentally than physically but the mental
stress soon becomes physical fatigue. I hope to get past this exhaustive stage
of the job and recapture a bit more personal joy for the off hours. The fact
that I’ve also been working my eyes and brain into progressive glasses, I’m
sure is playing a part in my fatigue.
Life is
strange. I quit a very well paying career, mostly because I had no personal
life and haven’t for nearly 32 years. Now I’d have to work 3 times the hours to
make the same income…not going to happen. Honestly, I took this job knowing my
income would be substantially less, my hope was to have more time for myself
and with my wife. This has not worked out too great as of yet. I am at home
every evening, which is nice. Hopefully as I get more time in with this company
my hours can be reduced and more time can be allotted for personal enjoyment.
Never a
dull moment, but my life has been really good; I am fortunate!
